Today, I’m excited to share with you an unforgettable dining experience I had at Nikolas Taverna, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of Pefkos, Rhodes.
Nestled on the outskirts of Pefkos, Taverna Nikolas boasts a contemporary interior, standing out amidst the more traditional eateries in the area. Its bustling ambiance consistently draws crowds, a notable contrast to some of the quieter establishments nearby. Surprisingly, many diners opt to venture the 10-minute walk from the centre of Pefkos to Nikolas, bypassing closer options in favour of the flavours and atmosphere this restaurant offers.

From the moment I stepped through the doors of Nikolas Taverna, I was greeted with a warm smile and genuine hospitality that instantly made me feel at home. The ambiance was inviting, with traditional Greek decor and a cosy atmosphere that set the stage for an unforgettable meal.
As I scoured the menu, I was delighted to find a tantalizing array of authentic Greek dishes, each one bursting with flavour and made with love. From freshly caught seafood to tender grilled meats and vibrant salads, Nikolas Taverna offered something to satisfy every craving.
For starters, I couldn’t resist trying the bruschetta – a heavenly combination of toasted sesame bread, covered in chopped Greek tomatoes, drizzled with olive oil was super fresh and ready for the main.
For the main course, I opted for the arancini, that was cooked to perfection and served with a squeeze of lemon and a sprinkle of oregano. These golden orbs of savoury goodness are crafted from a mixture of cooked rice, minced meat (often beef or lamb), herbs, and spices. What sets Greek arancini apart is the inclusion of traditional Greek ingredients such as feta cheese, olives, and sun-dried tomatoes, which infuse each bite with a burst of Mediterranean flavour.
